International operations

Moreover, Salo also wants to be an attractive destination for foreign students and is using education export to draw in students from abroad, especially from Asia.
Salo’s global reputation as a top location for IT excellence and industry is an invaluable asset in attracting international experts and companies. The innovation hub Salo IoT Campus and the economic development company Yrityssalo Ltd are working boldly to draw in international investments, experts, and students. The city’s international operations unit increases global awareness of Salo, supports companies in their internationalisation efforts, and uses its networks and urban relations to create new business openings.

The international operations are part of the communications and public relations services of the City of Salo. The international operations are responsible for implementing the city’s strategic goals regarding international activities, coordinating the twinning relations with cities around the world, developing bilateral urban partnerships, fostering city diplomacy, and supporting the internationalisation efforts of the entire city.
The interests of Salo are represented at the EU level by the Turku-Southwest Finland European Office in Brussels.
